What's on Netflix?!?

It's the beginning of the holiday season and that means...this is good cause to Netflix…and chill. Have you ever scrolled through the plethora of titles on Netflix only to be left with overwhelm and not know what you should watch?

It has been my intention to share a recap of what I’ve been watching on Netflix. My schedule is jam packed so I make it a point to indulge while I am doing other things, like answering emails, folding laundry, washing dishes, etc. These are the movies that I have watched over the last four months.

Now, before we go any further, I must say that my first installment of this Netflix list is not for the faint at heart. Interestingly, three out of the four movies are gory and dark. They all have a specific theme: blood. If this is not your thing, please proceed with caution should you choose to view my What’s on Netflix list.

*The following titles are in order of likeness. Number one being my TOP pick.

Let Me In Starring: Kodi Smit-McPhee, Chloë Grace Moretz, Richard Jenkins Netflix Summary:

One snowy winter, a 12-year-old befriends a new neighbor, who helps him stand up to bullies. She also brings a dark, unearthly secret into his world.

Thoughts...

I was shock, amazed and astounded to learn that this film was made in 2010, oh but don’t let the fact that no one is talking about it fool you. It is packed with great storytelling, consistent movement, sad moments and surprising moments of joy. Let Me In had me locked in from beginning to end. Be prepared to cover your eyes from time to time due to graphic images.

Midnight Mass Starring: Zach Gilford, Hamish Linklater, Kate Siegel, Samantha Sloyan, Netflix Summary:

Riley Flynn returns home to family dysfunction, familiar faces and a new priest at St. Patrick's. Elsewhere on the island, a dark storm is brewing. Thoughts...

Wowzers! That’s the only way to describe this one. I typically shy away from the episodic flick because it is too much of a commitment. I must say, Midnight Mass didn’t quite pick up for me until episode five. I was somewhat bored and lost during the first four episodes. I didn't want to give up on it so I took a peek at the plot notes on Wikipedia. From there, I gained clarity, and made the commitment to hang in there. I am glad that I did. Besides, seeing Zach Gilford, the cutie from Good Girls on NBC, encouraged me to stay tuned. Once the story picks up and everything starts falling into place, it is one crazy ride. Midnight Mass gave me a lot to think about and for the most part, the movie is very well done.

Blood Red Sky Starring: Peri Baumeister, Alexander Scheer, Kais Setti Netflix Summary:

When a group of terrorists hijacks an overnight transatlantic flight, a mysteriously ill woman must unleash a monstrous secret to protect her young son. Thoughts...

I chose this movie strictly based on the cover art. I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into but I knew it would be worth my time. The plot thickens when I soon find out that it’s not what I thought it was as far as the main character. I was actually feeling sorry for the mom in the beginning. That magnificent flashback helped me to understand what her deal was and I simply wanted her to win. There is a lot going on in this film but you won't want to turn away not even for a second because you might miss something. The ending is heartbreaking and triumphant.

I Care a Lot. Starring: Rosamund Pike, Peter Dinklage, Eiza González Netflix Summary:

A court-appointed legal guardian defrauds her older clients and traps them under her care. But her latest mark comes with some unexpected baggage. Thoughts...

You always get what’s coming to you. That is how I would describe this movie. I was all for the savvy businesswoman going after what she wants. It was all working out until it wasn’t. There were some parts that were kind of hard to believe but again, I was committed because the main character is a woman in business, and I wanted to see how this would all play out for her. Let’s just say, things went downhill but she put up a good fight.
