What's on Netflix?!?

Have you ever scrolled through the plethora of titles on Netflix only to be left with overwhelm and not know what you should watch?

It's time for a second installment of my Netflix movie review. I have a whole list of flicks that I have watched since we last spoke. Don't worry, I have made notes about each and every one of them. I will roll them out over the next few months or as I feel called to.

My schedule is jam packed so I make it a point to indulge while I am doing other things, like answering emails, folding laundry, washing dishes, etc. These are the movies that I have watched over the last four months.

This month's list is not like the last. This time around, I was up for a little adventure with a dash of thrill. Don't worry, there are never any spoilers in my reviews. My opinion is simply to help you choose from the endless catalog that we know as Netflix. Let's get started.

*The following titles are in order of likeness. Number one being my TOP pick.

jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy

Starring: Ye Netflix Summary:

Step inside the journey of Kanye West, over twenty years in the making.

Thoughts...

This title is first on my list not because it is the best but because it is what I most recently watched. I didn't originally plan to dedicate a little over an hour of my time watching the making of Kanye. I figured, I already know what I need to know about his rise to stardom. Something made me click on the play link and I was hooked. I was tickled every time Kanye removed his retainers to rap or speak. It was somewhat gross and cute at the same time. Kanye didn't think anything of it. Typical Kanye, I suppose. What really struck me is how young and vibrant Kanye was. He was truly a cutie pie. It didn't really dawn on me that he hadn't always been a star. This man hustled to get to where he is today. I've got mad respect for his drive. It was heartfelt to see his mother, Donda in the documentary. She was so encouraging to him. I needed to see that for some reason.

The first installment of this trilogy quickly reminded me why Kanye has made it this far. You simply cannot dismiss how hard he works and how he literally uses his words to manifest his life. I learned a lot and walked away encouraged. This is only part one. I strongly feel that I will show up for the next two episodes.

Behind Her Eyes Starring: Eva Hewson, Simona Brown and Tom Bateman Netflix Summary:

A single mother enters a world of twisted mind games when she begins an affair with her psychiatrist boss while secretly befriending his mysterious wife. Thoughts...

You're in for a ride with this one. When I first began the journey, I was bored and not really sure about what was going on. I have not read the book so I was open to what was in store for me. It just took a while to get there.

This six part series is a slow build. I was ready to call it quits after the third episode but my heart told me to keep going. I am glad that I did.

Things really began to pick up for me around the fourth episode. My heart was beating fast, I was biting the sides of my nails, I was in total shock that I didn't see what was coming. This series is so good that I watched it twice just so I could revisit the clues that I obviously missed the first go round. This movie is everything and really makes you think...twice about life.

True Story Starring: Kevin Hart, Wesley Snipes and Tawney Newsome Netflix Summary:

A tour stop becomes a matter of life and death for a famous comic when the fallout from a night with his brother threatens to destroy everything he's built.

Thoughts...

Well, well, well. Let's just give Kevin Hart ALL of his flowers, while he is still here. That man did that! I was very skeptical at first. I mean very skeptical. How could funny man Kevin Hart play alongside seasoned actor Wesley Snipes?

Kevin fooled me. I forgot that I was watching a comedian for most of the movie, and he played a comedian. Kevin dug deep for this one and the thespian gods looked out for him. Kevin held his own alongside Wesley. In fact, Wesley really frustrated me with his antics.

There are seven chapters and I watched them all straight through. Each chapter ensured me that I would not be able to get a good night's sleep if I hadn't completed the whole thing. Let's just say, this film did not disappoint from beginning to end. The last chapter was very satisfying. True Story was a pleasant surprise.

Before I Wake Starring: Kate Bosworth, Thomas Jane, Jacob Tremblay Netflix Summary:

Still mourning the death of their son, Mark and Jessie welcome foster child Cody into their lives. Soon they discover he has a strange ability.

Thoughts...

First of all, I was relieved that this was simply a one part movie. I wasn't up for five and six parts to get through. When I chose this title, I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into.

After about 15 minutes, I thought about throwing in the towel but it was just a thought.

As things began to pick up after the foster child came into the home, I knew that this newfound relief wasn't all that it was appearing to be.

However, it was refreshing to witness the grieving parents' joy...there was a huge price to pay for what they were doing.

This movie gets a little scary with the dark shots and thriller sound effects. You will certainly jump out of your seat a few times. Feel the thrill and turn away, if you need to. Watch until the end. It is worth it.

Rattlesnake Starring: Carmen Ejogo, Theo Rossi, Emma Greenwell Netflix Summary:

After a mysterious woman saves her daughter from a deadly snakebite, a single mother must repay the debt by killing a stranger before sundown. Thoughts...

This title is last on my list for a reason. It's not the best but it will do. I chose this film because I'm really into one-word titles. They usually pack a punch and get straight to the point.

This certainly did that but I could spot the trouble coming from a mile away. I only stayed because I wanted to see if I could predict what would happen. I was pretty much on point with the exception of a few twists and turns in the story.

Rattlesnake is a good depiction of the lengths that a mother will go through to protect or save her child. I was rooting for this mom and felt that she wasn't going to win this fight.

This movie is not scary but it does make you cringe a little with the situational scenes. I recommend this title if you just want something running in the background, while you paint a room or work on a DIY project.
